PROFILE
Unit Fotografi Universitas Gadjah Mada (The Photography Unit of Universitas Gadjah Mada) or also known as UFO UGM is a Student Activity Unit at Universitas Gadjah Mada, dedicated to fostering students’ interest, talent, and skills in photography. UFO UGM serves as a platform for UGM students to explore the technical and creative aspects of photography while connecting with others who share the same passion.
Every year, UFO UGM opens its doors to new members during the Gelanggang Expo (Gelex), an annual event showcasing various student organizations to new students at Universitas Gadjah Mada. The recruitment process aims to attract students from diverse backgrounds who are eager to learn and contribute to the community.
As an active and dynamic photography community, UFO UGM organizes a variety of programs and events that cater to both skill development and creative expression. These include:
- Workshops and Training: Comprehensive sessions designed to equip members with essential photography knowledge and techniques. Topics range from basic camera operations and lighting to advanced composition and editing using professional software.
- Photo Hunting: Excursions to scenic or culturally rich locations where members can practice photography techniques in real-world settings. These activities not only enhance technical skills but also encourage collaboration and idea sharing among participants.
- Photography Exhibitions: Showcasing the artistic works of UFO UGM members to the public, these exhibitions serve as a platform for expression, critique, and appreciation. They also provide opportunities for members to gain recognition for their creativity and craftsmanship.
- Collaborative Projects: UFO UGM often collaborates with other organizations or departments within UGM for documentation and creative photography projects. These partnerships offer members hands-on experience in professional settings.
- Competitions: Members are encouraged to participate in local and national photography competitions, allowing them to challenge themselves and achieve accolades for their work.
